Jeannie Murray - Financial Manager/Public Relations
I was born in Memphis and am one of two daughters born to James and Mildred Travis, wonderful Christian parents that are now rejoicing with the Lord in heaven. My sister, Carolyn Grizzard and her husband Dr. Tom Grizzard, also reside in the Memphis area. I graduated from South Side High School in Memphis and received my Business Education degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Following graduation from Baylor, I taught at Treadwell High School in Memphis until Tom and I married in 1966. I "retired" from teaching that year to travel with Tom in his business and enjoyed a year of special times until I "retired" from traveling to begin our family. Tom and I have been blessed with three wonderful Christian children: Kristen, Courtney, and Hunter. Kristen and Hunter are married to loving and committed Christian mates (Matthew Thornton and Kristin Bailey) that we love dearly. Courtney has earned her Masters, works for a large Memphis banking institution, and spends most of her free time spoiling her nephews and nieces who are the loves of her life.
I have always loved cooking, almost as much as I loved gardening with Tom. But my new love is being a Grandma. I have joined a Grandmother's Club with some longtime friends and we take our grandchildren on outings together once a month as well as having dinner together once a month without them! It is hard to put in words the joy and pride you feel as you watch your grandchildren grow up right before your eyes. Since all of our family lives in Memphis except Hunter and Kristin who live in Franklin, TN, we enjoy getting together for an early Sunday evening meal each week. We also work to schedule at least one family vacation each year.
My 23 years as a homemaker and stay at home Mom ended when we started Truth Seekers Fellowship in 1993. It began with just Tom and me, and I still continue as bookkeeper for the ministry.
I love Truth Seekers because discipling new or growing Christians is "spiritual parenting" and I am so blessed as I watch disciples put on spiritual muscle and grow to Christian maturity right before our eyes. Tom continues to have a legacy through many of our disciples who are not only growing, but now teaching classes as well. Only eternity will reveal the true fruits of our labor of love in the service of our Lord Jesus.
We are truly blessed to have Stacy Tyson pick up the mantle of Truth Seekers Fellowship. God led us to Stacy before Tom became ill and together they were able to have dreams of what God wanted for TSF and now Stacy is here to lead us toward those goals.
