Revelation_01_Introduction

We begin our expositional study of Revelation by placing the book in its historical and cultural setting. The Seven Churches of Asia Minor were being faced with persecution by the Roman Empire. Meanwhile, John, exiled on the island of Patmos, receives messages and visions from Jesus Christ that are meant to challenge, rebuke and encourage these churches. As these early believers are faced with the oppression of the empire, they are also reminded of the reality that their Savior is also the Lord and God of all creation and everything will be set right by Him.
