Phase 2 | FREE |
Galatians 5:1
For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and
do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery. (NET)
In this second half of Phase 2, we want to focus on the power that is made available to every believer through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. This power enables us not only to engage the Great War effectively, but also to actually live in a way that is truly pleasing to God – free from the domination of sin and completely enslaved to God’s truth, goodness and beauty.
MTM Step 2.3 | Understanding Spiritual Transformation |
2 Corinthians 3:17-18
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the
Lord is present, there is freedom. And we all, with
unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being
transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to
another, which is from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
(NET)
Understanding that God transforms us from the inside out is critical for engaging the process of spiritual transformation. By understanding what the Holy Spirit is seeking to do in your heart / mind prepares you to follow Him as He seeks to empty you of all that is not in line with Christ’s perfection so that He can fill you with Christ. God has accepted us as we are, and yet transforms us into the people that He desires for us to be. In these six lessons, we explore one of the most neglected subjects in Christianity and seek to understand the means that God has made available to us to make His grace and power real in our lives.
MTM Step 2.4 | Putting on Christ |
Romans 13:11-14
… we know the time, that it is already the hour for us to
awake from sleep, for our salvation is now nearer than when
we became believers. The night has advanced toward dawn;
the day is near. So then we must lay aside the works of
darkness, and put on the weapons of light. Let us live
decently as in the daytime, not in carousing and
drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not
in discord and jealousy. Instead, put on the Lord Jesus
Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to arouse its
desires. (NET)
The fiercest battle that each of us face is an internal struggle. It is the war that rages between the goodness of Christ made real in our hearts by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit and the untamable evil of the sin that still dwells in our bodies. Knowing how to engage this battle is the most important part of learning how to “put on Christ” by the Holy Spirit through faith. In the six lessons of this workbook, we explore how the power of Jesus' own resurrection is made available to us to live an entirely new kind of life.
