MilktoMeat: IMPACT Beginning this Fall
This September, we will be launching a new
“program” called MilktoMeat: IMPACT and
we would love for you to get
involved. For the past several years, the
question that has captivated my thinking about
teaching and discipleship is “How do we move
beyond information transfer to life
transformation?” With our IMPACT program, we
hope to do just that. Basically here is what we are
planning to do:
1. Implement a new 9 month MilktoMeat streamlined curriculum. When Tom first started pulling together MilktoMeat, he envisioned a three year long curriculum. As some of you know, that turned into almost 7 years! Over the past ten years I have been “streamlining” a version of MilktoMeat that will cover the foundational truths of walking with the Lord as Aware, Alive, Awake, Faithful, Free and Fruitful disciples/students/apprentices. You can actually check that out now by going to our MilktoMeat section. This curriculum is designed to lay the foundation for discipleship, but not necessarily go in depth with every topic. Some of the larger studies (like Spiritual Warfare) will be separated out as “continuing training” courses for students who want to go deeper later. All the basics of MilktoMeat will be covered: New Life in Christ, New Identity and Position in Christ, The basics of Spiritual Warfare, etc.
2. Team up new MilktoMeat students with “graduated” MilktoMeat students. Right now we are looking for those of you who have been through MilktoMeat (it doesn’t matter when) who would like to get more actively involved in training others in the “fundamentals of the faith” - the first steps in making disciples. We will ask you pray about two people that you can invite to go through MilktoMeat. You will pray for these new students throughout the duration of the course. You will also facilitate discussions during classes and spend time with these students outside of class. We believe these personal relationships will be the key to this new “program.”
3. Restructure class time to be more interactive. We will meet weekly for classes which will last about an hour and fifteen minutes. During that class we will review what covered the previous week, hear a presentation that focuses on what we are learning in the present week, have a time of group discussion and exercises, and close with a Q&A and wrap-up.
This is just a very basic overview of what we are planning so far. If you have been through MilktoMeat, we would love for you to consider getting involved with IMPACT.
You can download a short brochure that has a few more details about the program by clicking here.
We will be having a Q&A and initial orientation meeting for everyone who is interested in this in the next couple of weeks. If you would like to get involved, or have any questions, please let me know by sending an email here or by giving us a call at the office: 901.685.3385.
We are very excited about IMPACT and hope that you will consider getting involved.
