HYPERBOLE

Hyperbole: The intentional use of exaggeration or overstatement for emphasis (ὑπερβολή, "extravagance").

Hyperbole can also take conventional forms, understood by native speakers, which do not necessarily connote emphasis.

See Matthew 6:24; 10:37; Luke 14:26; John 21:25; Galatians 1:8; Colossians 1:23; Philemon 16.
